Utah teenager named as finalist in Doodle for Google art competition

SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A Utah teenager has made it to the top five in the annual Doodle for Google contest, with a chance for her artwork to be featured on the search engine’s homepage.

Google has hosted a doodle contest every year, accepting artwork from students from kindergarten to 12th Grade. The winner of the competition receives a $45,000 scholarship and a $50,000 technology package for their respective schools. Additionally, their artwork is featured on Google’s homepage for a day.

This year, over 10,000 students submitted their artwork under the theme “My superpower is…”. Judges narrowed the submissions down to five finalists, all of whom received a $10,000 college scholarship. One of those finalists, Olive Harris, is a Utah local and spoke with ABC4.com about how it feels to make it so far in the competition.
