We are now just one month out from the planned release of Plasma 6.7 in mid-June. Feature activity continues to be brisk for Plasma 6.7 while KDE developers also continue landing more fixes for the current Plasma 6.6 series.
This Week In Plasma is out with its newest issue to highlight the latest advancements made to KDE Plasma. Some of the great work this week includes:
– Plasma 6.7 is adding support for the Background Apps portal. This is used by some apps to put themselves in the background and appear as icons in the System Tray.
– V2 of the Input Capture portal is also now implemented.
– Plasma 6.7 also adds an upscaling feature for screen content when using the KWin Zoom effect. Content will attempted to be sharpened and upscaled for a better appearance.
– Plasma’s Printers widget will now have a badge showing the number of active and queued print jobs at the moment.
– KDE styling for the generic MessageDialog component from Qt to resolve some “really ugly and out of place” dialogs in different software, the example shown:
– The automatic screen brightness feature is now taking more data into account to make better decisions.
– Plasma 6.7 is also fixing a case where KWin could crash when activating an item on a hidden panel while using the in-development Vulkan back-end.
– For KDE Plasma 6.6.5 is fixing performance issues for different NVIDIA GPUs with their R595 driver.
– Plasma 6.7 adds support for renaming or relocating the new cross-desktop standard “Projects”…
