Newest advances in computing: Logitech introduces Quest stylus, Nvidia and HPE collaborate on AI, and more – Engineering.com



Logitech has announced the development of a new mixed reality input device, the MX Ink stylus, designed for Meta Quest 3. It offers features like haptic feedback, pressure sensitivity, low latency, and long battery life. The stylus can be used for drawing, annotating, and interacting with virtual objects, alongside Meta Quest controllers. The MX Ink and its accessories are set to launch in September 2024.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Nvidia have introduced a new portfolio of AI solutions called HPE Nvidia AI Computing. Among these solutions is the HPE Private Cloud AI, expected to be available in fall. HPE President and CEO Antonio Neri highlighted the potential of generative AI applications in the enterprise and the ability for companies to focus on developing new use cases that can drive productivity and generate new sources of income.

Campfire, an enterprise AR developer, announced its support for the Apple Vision Pro platform. Campfire for Vision Pro will be available in the Apple App Store this fall, expanding its customer base significantly. This announcement comes after the increased popularity of Campfire’s CAD collaboration software for Meta’s Quest 3 headsets.

Apple unveiled updates during its WWDC, including the Math Notes calculator app coming to iPad on iPadOS 18. The app can solve handwritten equations using the Apple Pencil, accept variables, and plot equations. iPadOS 18 is scheduled to launch this fall with this new feature.

Supermicro announced a new liquid-cooled data center solution as part of its AI SuperCluster portfolio. Designed for Nvidia AI Enterprise software and latest Blackwell compute platforms, Supermicro claims its plug-and-play AI SuperCluster hardware can reduce data center energy use by up to 40%. President and CEO Charles Liang emphasized the benefits of total liquid cooling solutions like cold plates, CDUs, and cooling towers in reducing ongoing energy consumption in data centers.
