Amazon has announced plans to invest €10 billion in Germany to expand its logistics network and cloud infrastructure, creating 4,000 new jobs in the process. Three new logistics centers will be established in Horn-Bad Meinberg, Erfurt, and Großenkneten. Amazon’s investments in research and development, as well as cloud infrastructure, have contributed significantly to the German economy, with over €77 billion invested since 2010.
AWS, Amazon’s cloud computing arm, plans to invest €8.8 billion in cloud infrastructure in Germany by 2026, supporting the growing demand for AWS technologies, including AI. This investment is expected to generate €15.4 billion in GDP and create 15,200 full-time jobs annually in the local supply chain, according to an AWS Economic Impact Study.
Stefan Hoechbauer, General Manager Germany and Europe at AWS, emphasized Germany’s role in driving innovation in Europe and AWS’s commitment to supporting the country’s digital infrastructure and talent development programs. The company aims to help German customers lead in technological advancements and create new services using AWS cloud capabilities.
