Snap has fired its Asia Pacific communications chief Natasha Brack as the company pursues an aggressive, AI-driven global restructuring.

Sydney-based Brack announced on Linkedn that she was among 1,000 employees globally laid off by the Snapchat owner after what the company recently described internally as a restructuring driven by “rapid advances in artificial intelligence.”

Ironically, Brack spoke about Snap’s AI ambitions at Comms Con in Mumbrella last month, saying during a panel discussion: “At Snap, there is an obsession at every level right up to our CEO to make sure we adopt AI.”

During the panel discussion, which focused on generational dynamics in modern communications teams, Brack also encouraged communications professionals to become “jack-of-all-trades,” noting, “No one is indispensable, none of us, but you can become more employable.”
