British banks will next week gain access to a powerful AI tool that was deemed too dangerous to make available to the public, as a number of senior financial experts warned of its implications.
Anthropic, which has so far limited the release of the new model to a small group of mostly US companies including Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, said it would expand this to UK financial institutions in the coming days.
“This is very short-term, in the next week,” Pip White, Anthropic’s head of Britain, Ireland and Northern Europe, said in a Bloomberg TV interview. “As you would expect, the engagement I have received from UK CEOs over the last week has been significant.”
Anthropic, the company behind the Claude family of AI tools, has said its latest model, Mythos, poses unprecedented risk because it can expose flaws in IT systems.
