Permanently Closing or Deleting Your Microsoft Account

vm_adminJune 19, 2024
Permanently Closing or Deleting Your Microsoft Account

To delete your Microsoft account permanently, you must follow a series of steps to ensure that the process is secure and complete. First, sign out of your current account and create a local account on your Windows 10 PC. Then, access the Settings app, click on “Accounts,” and select the Microsoft account you wish to delete. Confirm the deletion and then proceed to close the account through the Microsoft website.

Before closing your Microsoft account, be sure to end all subscriptions, remove Wallet Cash from the Windows Store, and back up any documents on OneDrive. Once you have completed these steps, visit the Microsoft website and log in to begin the account closure process. Verify your identity by following the instructions provided, and then mark your account for closure.

After deleting your Microsoft account, you will lose access to subscriptions, data associated with Microsoft products and services, Outlook.com, Hotmail, MSN email accounts, OneDrive files, Xbox Live data, GamerTag, Skype contacts, account balance, and reward points. It is important to note that Microsoft will take 60 days to completely close your account, so any changes of heart should be made before this period ends.

If you wish to delete your Microsoft account and create a new one, the process is possible. Deleting your Microsoft account will remove all data associated with that account, including subscriptions and services. It is important to follow the steps outlined in this article to ensure the secure deletion of your account. Remember that deleting a Microsoft account from your Windows system will not delete your account data; only the account itself will be removed.
