Everyone knows that the beneficiaries of AI expansion have done great business in recent years.

Now a slightly less glamorous group of AI beneficiaries is moving into the spotlight: the serious construction and engineering firms that do the menial work of clearing construction sites, pouring concrete, laying cables, and designing plumbing and HVAC systems.

Analysts and technology executives say the construction work itself has become another major bottleneck in AI expansion, giving the companies doing the work significant negotiating leverage.
