SALINE TWP., Mich. (FOX 2) – Construction has begun on a new data center in Saline Township and residents say it’s already making a lot of noise.

Dozens of gravel trucks in Saline have passed by and it’s loud. According to residents, the trucks are traveling around the city to transport equipment for the new Oracle and OpenAI data center.
The billion-dollar, 1.4 gigawatt data center has been at the center of controversy for some time. Some locals are in favor, saying it will create jobs. Others oppose it, citing water use, energy problems and environmental impacts.
FOX 2 spoke with a cafe owner who said the gravel trucks were loud. It hasn’t slowed down foot traffic, but customers can definitely hear it.
“I’m half a block away and as they rumble east because they’re empty, I can hear it rumbling. I’m like, ‘What’s that noise?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s a truck.’ But then when they go the other way, you don’t hear them unless…
