Meta plans to lay off 20% or more of its staff as the company continues to invest aggressively in AI, Reuters reports.
The schedule for the layoffs or the extent of the job cuts has not yet been determined. However, top managers informed senior managers of the decision and asked them to prepare for the cut, sources told Reuters.
The reason for the job cuts is unclear. However, the company has invested a significant portion of its resources into developing AI infrastructure and acquiring AI startups. “This is speculative reporting on theoretical approaches,” a Meta spokesman said in a statement to Reuters.
In recent months, the company has been unhappy with internal affairs being leaked to the media.
