Finally the time has come. Altman’s bad behavior catches up with him.
The board fired Altman, once AI’s golden boy, in November 2023, not because AGI had been achieved (that Despite it didn’t happen), but because he was “not consistently open,” as they said.
And now the world finally sees what the board saw and what I saw (And what Karen Hao saw): It’s not a good idea to have someone running a company that has so much power to influence the world who isn’t consistently honest.
As I warned in August 2024, the questionable character of such a powerful man is dangerous:
Altman’s duplicitous “I support Dario” but also negotiate behind his back and am open to surveillance was the last straw for many people. Millions of people are literally angry; many feel cheated. No one wants to be monitored.
In reality, Altman was never really interested in AI for the “benefit of…”
