In most discussions of vibe coding, generative AI is positioned as a backing singer rather than a frontman: useful as a performer to push ideas forward, sketch out early code structures, and explore new directions more quickly. Caution is often required regarding suitability for production systems where determinism, testability and operational reliability are non-negotiable.
However, my latest project taught me that achieving quality work with an AI assistant requires more than just going with the flow.
