Is AI taking over music?

MARCH 1 – It’s all Spotify’s fault. Every time you create or listen to a playlist, there is an option to allow the app to play hits from outside the list.

Before I knew it, AI-generated songs had taken over my playlist – literally before I knew it.

I enjoyed my regular evening walk with my headphones and Spotify playing in my head. Two songs by a particular artist, Room, played. I liked it, didn’t think much of it, added it to the playlist and moved on.

A few days later an absolute soul groover, Midnight on the shoreby Harusoupe (I swear I thought it was a Korean or Japanese band at first) completely surprised me on the LRT.

What a great guitar and bass line, very hip, so gentle that I couldn’t help but sway in the carriage.

I went to Harusoupe’s page on Spotify, skimmed through some of the music and found another fantastic song I almost told you tonight which I’ve heard a million times since then.
