Dell Technologies adds Nutanix support on Dell Private Cloud

Dell Technologies said on Feb. 23 it will officially support Nutanix AHV on Dell Private Cloud, a disaggregated infrastructure designed for easy scaling.

Enterprises and institutions can combine Nutanix AHV with Dell external storage to scale servers and storage independently. It allows them to protect existing investments while maintaining familiar management tools and an automated lifecycle management system in multi-hypervisor environments.

As private cloud environments spread, 52 percent of IT decision-makers are choosing a multi-hypervisor strategy to avoid vendor lock-in, it said. Dell Private Cloud is designed around simplified operations and flexible architecture. Its core software, Dell Automation Platform, provides intelligent automation from installation through operations and lifecycle management and supports an appliance experience across Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell storage. This allows customers to scale servers and storage independently and choose the best hypervisor for each workload, the company said.

With the update, Dell Private Cloud has expanded its support to include Nutanix in addition to VMware and Red Hat OpenShift. It supports Nutanix immediately on Dell PowerFlex.
