Frederic Descamps, Oracle MySQL Community Manager, has promised a “significant new approach” to MySQL in response to concerns from the open source community.
Users expressed concerns about reduced commit activity, slow innovation, and a lack of transparency. Founder Michael Widenius had also previously said he was “heartbroken” about the job cuts in engineering.
But on the occasion of MySQL’s 30th anniversary, Oracle is responding to the criticism with a “reinvigorated approach to community collaboration and innovation.”
