The Department of Veterans Affairs is preparing for this Oracle-Cerner resumes deployment of its new electronic health record in April, when four facilities in Michigan – Detroit, Saginaw, Ann Arbor and Battle Creek – go live.

The move marks the end of a three-year pause to address system failures, performance problems and patient safety concerns, Federal News Network reported Tuesday.

Additional planned deployments are to sites in Ohio and Kentucky in June, to facilities in Indiana in August, and to medical centers in Cleveland, Ohio, and Anchorage, Alaska, in October.

VA halted new deployments in April 2023 to stabilize sites already operating on the system. According to VA Assistant Secretary Paul Lawrence, facilities currently using the new EHR are returning to pre-implementation productivity levels, with some already reaching that benchmark.
