Why Oracle Stock Plunged on Thursday | The colorful fool

The cloud and database specialist fell into a broad AI sell-off.

Shares of oracle (ORCL 2.19%) fell as much as 6.5% on Thursday morning. As of 1:48 a.m. ET, the stock was still down 4.4%.

There was no company-specific news to explain the company database and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Decline of the specialist. However, a cloud competitor reported results that left investors wanting.

Microsoft (MSFT 10.23%) reported its quarterly results after the market closed on Wednesday and The results cast a shadow across a wide range of cloud and AI stocks. In the second quarter of fiscal 2026 (ended December 31), the cloud software provider posted revenue that rose 17% year-over-year to $81.3 billion. This has adapted Earnings per share (EPS) of $4.14, an increase of 24%. The results exceeded expectations, but that wasn’t enough to allay investor fears about the future of AI.
