Amazon is cutting thousands of jobs as part of its AI push

Wednesday’s cuts are the second mass layoffs in three months at the e-commerce giant.

Amazon is cutting 16,000 jobs in three months in a second wave of layoffs at the e-commerce giant as the company restructures and relies on artificial intelligence.

Wednesday’s cuts follow the 14,000 layoffs the Seattle, Washington-based company made in October. The layoffs are expected to affect employees at Prime Video, Amazon Web Services and the company’s human resources department, according to Reuters news agency, which first reported the cuts.

Amazon confirmed to Al Jazeera that any cuts at the company will impact employees at a corporate level.
