Marvell Stock Rises With Broadcom on Hopes for Microsoft’s AI Chip

Marvell Technology (NASDAQ:MRVL) and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) shares climbed about 2% Tuesday morning as analysts highlighted their potential role in Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) upcoming Maia AI chip, according to BNP Paribas.

While Marvell is not expected to supply the Maia 200 chip itself, that role may go to Global Unichip, analysts say both Marvell and Broadcom could benefit from providing Ethernet application-specific integrated circuits for the system.

Analyst Karl Ackerman noted the Maia 200 rack system will feature 12 compute trays, six CPU head nodes, four Tier-1 Ethernet scale-up switches, and two top-of-rack switches for frontend networking. The design targets inferencing workloads and avoids large-scale backend networks, allowing efficient small-scale cluster deployments.
