Grok AI generated about 3 million sexualized images this month, a study says

According to researchers, Grok AI generated about three million sexualized images earlier this month, including 23,000 that appeared to depict children. They said it had “become an industrial-scale machine for the production of sexual abuse material”.

The estimate was made by the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) after Elon Musk’s AI imaging tool sparked international outrage when it allowed users to upload photos of strangers and celebrities, digitally stripping them down to their underwear or bikinis, striking them in provocative poses and posting them on X.

The trend went viral throughout the new year, peaking on Jan. 2 with 199,612 unique requests, according to an analysis by Peryton Intelligence, a digital intelligence firm specializing in online hate.
