In response to the global outcry, X announced on Friday morning a restriction on image creation via the AI tool Grok. A post on the platform said the ability to create and edit images is now “limited to paying subscribers.” Anyone who pays must provide personal information so that they can be identified in the event of misuse of the function.
However, the move failed to dampen anger and intensified backlash from victims, politicians and experts who said it did not go far enough.
