Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai described the “moonshot” the Google parent is attempting in harnessing more energy to fuel artificial intelligence data centers.
Pichai appeared on Fox News Sunday and responded to a question about the Suncatcher project, which would use satellites in orbit to create and harness energy from the sun. The host joked that he felt he was being punked reading about the project.
“One of our moonshots is to how do we one day have data centers in space, so that we can better harness the energy from the sun?” Pichai responded, adding that it’s about 100 trillion times more energy than what is produced on all of the Earth now.
