A mural at a Sydney train station has been removed after it was labeled “AI slop”.
At first glance, the scene at Redfern train station depicting an Australian Christmas appears to have been created by an artist, dotted with icons of Australia such as thongs, Santas and beach umbrellas.
However, upon closer inspection, people noticed that the artwork appeared to have been created by artificial intelligence, with tell-tale signs such as a kangaroo with the head of a koala and an Australian flag floating in the air.
A bandicoot-type rodent was also discovered in the mural, with its limbs separated from its body.
The mural gained attention online after it was criticized as “AI fake” on Reddit’s r/sydney forum.
The term refers to low-quality content created by generative AI that often contains errors.
