The Australian government’s digital services are showing no improvement in key performance metrics despite significant technological changes driven by artificial intelligence in how citizens interact with public sector websites, according to a new report.
Performance plateau
The latest assessment of federal and state government websites shows Australia has maintained its second place in the global rankings for digital government performance. The national average moved only slightly, at 69.4 out of 100, showing little movement since an initial increase in 2022-23.
Australia ranks second behind the United Kingdom among seven global jurisdictions. The ranking is based on a mix of customer experience, website performance and digital self-service, with agency websites rated on accessibility, reliability and how well users can access information independently.
