The applicants were informed several times, including via SMS, that their applications would be checked for AI.
While 50 percent was the benchmark set by FRNSW for exclusion from the selection process, the actual rate of AI use in applications could be much higher.
FRNSW said in its advice to candidates that if Turnitin determines that 50 percent of a document is likely to have been written by an AI tool, it could contain up to 65 percent AI writing.
