The robot, called AIdol, celebrated its public debut at an event hosted by the manufacturer Idol.
The video showed the robot taking a few slow steps on the stage.
It raises its right “arm” to wave and appears to sway as the handlers quickly approach.
But AIdol managed to stay upright for a few more steps before apparently losing his balance and falling forward.
The handlers rush to lift the robot while another simultaneously pulls a black sheet in front of the scene.
According to media reports, Idol CEO Vladimir Vitukhin said that the crash was caused by calibration errors and that the robot was still in the testing phase.
