Anthropic has announced a significant $50 billion investment in building artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. The project begins with the development of custom data centers in Texas and New York to support the company’s rapid business growth and long-term research goals. These facilities are being built in collaboration with Fluidstack, an AI cloud platform that provides large graphics processing unit (GPU) clusters to customers such as Meta, Midjourney and Mistral.
Additional locations are planned, with the first locations scheduled to go into operation in 2026. The project is expected to create 800 permanent jobs and over 2,000 construction jobs. Anthropic’s investment positions the company as a key domestic player in physical AI infrastructure and is consistent with policymakers’ increasing focus on computing capacity and technological sovereignty in the US.
