2024 Leap Year Bugs Affect Citrix and Sophos Software

Leap year issues were discovered in Citrix and Sophos products. Citrix users reported the HDX HTML5 Video Redirection Service malfunctioning on VDA machines. A workaround was suggested by changing the system date to 2024. Citrix shared a temporary fix until a permanent solution is in place. Sophos users experienced unexpected security certification validation warnings for HTTPS websites due to a leap year bug. Sophos provided solutions for affected products and disabled SSL/TLS decryption as a precaution.

Countries like New Zealand, Sweden, and Japan experienced leap year-related problems in their systems. New Zealand had self-service gas station outages, while Sweden’s ICA couldn’t process card payments due to an internal issue. Japan faced driver’s license issuance interruptions in four prefectures, leading to an emergency transition to unaffected systems.

Both Citrix and Sophos are working on resolving the leap year issues to prevent future disruptions, emphasizing the importance of preparing for leap year bugs in computer systems.
